INDONESIA DEFENSE STRATEGY DEALING WITH SHIFT THE UNITED STATES STRATEGY IN ASIA PACIFIC



Abstract

The end of the cold war marked a significant shift in the international system in the Asia Pacific region. The emergence of China as a new emerging power and great economic power, bringing the United States (US) to implement policy Rebalancing Strategy. To strengthen its presence in Asia-Pacific A puts 2,500 marines in Darwin, Australia. This is a challenge for Indonesia that is geographically adjacent. The existence of a US base can be a threat at any time. The US can attack Indonesia with close proximity and a very short time. If not taken seriously, it will have an impact on Indonesia's security stability. Indonesia's defense strategy was developed both militarily and non-military. Military by gradually modernizing and nirmiliter defense developed by carrying out diplomatic functions.
