Abstract

Quality of service in wireless communication technologies, in particular LAN is one indicator of communication feasibility level for both voice and digital data. QoS in WLAN is affected by propagation loss at transmission medium between the host to the Access Point and the effect of host mobility and traffic load that system. In high traffic load, human behavior and infrastructure development growth in urban area lead Wireless LAN network performance needs to be examined whether they can meet the QoS defined by the ITU-T International institutions. Through the use of Network Simulator NS2, in this study will be conducted using propagation models as Ricean comparison with other propagation losses that represent barriers to the propagation of wireless communications in general so it can be concluded whether this technology can be implemented as an alternative technology in triple play services of voice, data and video communications.
