The use of synthetic food preservatives that are not in accordance with the rules set by Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan (BPOM) may be a carcinogen agent, so it is necessary to find other food preservatives that are safer and derived from natural products. This study has been carried out phytochemical screening of tengkawang seeds fat (Shorea sumatrana Sym.) with a common phytochemical screening method, obtained results that it contains alkaloids, steroids and phenolic compounds, so it can be used as reference compounds on the tengkawang seeds fat.
