Abstract

“Zona Selamat Sekolah” (ZoSS) is an instrument to reduce traffic speed in school area which has been implemented in Indonesia. The objective of the study is to evaluate operational performance based on spot speeds, traffic flows and road user’s behavior characteristics. The study showed that spot speed generally reduces in ZoSS area but the average absolute value was higher than the speed limit allowed. Traffic flows generally ignore the right of way of pedestrian crossing in zebra cross area, exception was made if pedestrian crossing officers were there.
